The management criteria for construction sites

Maintenance sites are essential to ensure the safety of travelers as well as to allow for the renewal of the infrastructure's life cycle, thereby increasing the original safety levels. Generally, the work is concentrated during periods of the year with favorable weather conditions (in fact, many operations cannot be carried out with snow and heavy rain). The interventions are carried out based on the following management standards and, where possible, during nighttime hours, except in unforeseen emergency situations:The interventions are carried out based on the following management standards and, where possible, during nighttime hours, except in unforeseen emergency situations:

  • planning during periods characterized by lower traffic, preferably at night;
  • design and scheduling of interventions aimed at minimizing road occupancy;
  • removal of construction sites during periods of high traffic (e.g. summer exodus, holidays, and weekends);
  • advance communication of construction sites with greater impact on traffic, defining any alternative traffic management measures and traffic management plans in accordance with the Traffic Police, along with a dedicated communication plan possibly shared with the involved local authorities;
  • suspension of work under conditions of heavy traffic or adverse weather conditions, compatible with ongoing activities.

Furthermore, supplementary signage is planned to be installed at construction sites to provide users with more information regarding the ongoing work.
